On October 13, 2023, it’s that time again: the annual artists’ edition of WELT will be published.

It has long since become a tradition: Since 2010, the most famous artists of our time have taken it upon themselves to transform DIE WELT and welt.de into a total artwork for one day.

With Anselm Kiefer, one of the most powerful artists of our time is designing the fourteenth artist’s edition of DIE WELT.

His formats are gigantic, his ambition unprecedented. And it is the very big themes that have occupied him since his beginnings in the early 1970s. From the abysses of German history to the eternal questions of philosophy, from Paul Celan’s Death Fugue to the origin of the universe, Kiefer manages like no other contemporary artist to create images of meaning that transcend space and time. He has thus become the most important mythologist and poet in recent art history.
