Static ad (campaign theme without interactive concept)
Two image files (one portrait and the other landscape) are required. The theme is displayed with automatic switching between portrait and landscape modes. The theme can be provided with a full-surface link. Static gifs are supported, but not animated ones.
Interactive ad (campaign theme with interactive option and/or animation)
An interactive ad usually consists of several components. It must be delivered complete and as a self-contained TAR.GZ (archive format) file via a download link.
An interactive ad includes an HTML document. This is used for both orientations and defined using CSS rules for both formats. The HTML document must be responsive to rotation of the iPad (switch between portrait and landscape modes). JavaScript files, CSS files and any other content (fonts, images, sounds, videos) are optional and depend on the ad implementation.
The HTML file must be named index.html and be located at the top level of the ad archive (TAR.GZ). There are no additional structure specifications for subfolders, etc. However, you can facilitate the technical review by ensuring clear naming and structuring conventions.
The function navigationManager.showTemplate(0) must be called as soon as the page has fully loaded. (Note: The app injects the Navigation Manager into the JavaScript Runtime.) The ad will only be displayed in the app once this has completed. The HTML page is informed about appearance and disappearance in the app with the following events:
onWebViewVisible – sent as soon as the animation (swipe) for the page call is completed
onWebViewInvisible – sent as soon as the animation (swipe) to exit the page is completed
The app uses the so-called InAppBrowser. This essentially means the standard mobile browser of the tablet’s operating system. The InAppBrowser provides a Forward and Back button, a Refresh button and a Close button. When a link is activated, the InAppBrowser positions itself over the ad. Opening a (stand-alone) browser window is not possible.
Please note that on mobile devices landing pages can have a different appearance compared to normal web browsing, or they may even be completely unsuitable for display on tablets. We recommend linking to appropriately optimised micro-sites. Landing pages, multimedia content and certain data processing functions can only be viewed by, or executed on the devices of, users who are actually online.
Links on Android and Kindle are opened in the standard browser of the operating system and do not require any additional parameters.
Tracking
The use of click commands is permitted and follows the link example above. Tracking pixels are not permitted. The ads are not tracked automatically. Please note that the apps and their add-ons are used both on- and offline. If a user is offline, tracking does not take place. Statistical evaluations of click command calls from an ad are therefore only meaningful to a limited extent.
Further information
The use of touch apps is not permitted. However, it may be approved after analysis (or at best on agreement during the conceptual phase).
The editorial staff of the app reserves the right to check all ads and any linked landing pages within, and it may stop the implementation or appearance of an ad in order not to impair the overall appearance and functioning of the app.
