About our ads

At this point we, Media Impact GmbH & Co KG, would like to provide you with comprehensive information on the subject of online behavioural advertising. Our web offer, i.e. the website from which you have just arrived, is marketed by the advertising agent Media Impact. Various companies are involved in both data collection and advertising as part of these marketing activities. These companies have different roles. They may be responsible for the data processing themselves (controller) or act as a service provider bound by instructions (processor).

Purpose and legal basis of the processing

Your data is processed for the purpose of online behavioural advertising exclusively. The ads on websites marketed by Media Impact are optimised for you through the collection and processing of your usage data and adapted to your predicted interests. As a result, you as a user benefit from ads that are more in line with your interests and served in a less random manner overall.

We process your data solely on the basis of one or more of the possible legal bases of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest in offering you tailor-made ads, informing you about products of interest, innovations and quality features and constantly improving our products and services, thereby also increasing our turnover, prevails in a comprehensive weighing of interests with your interests, fundamental rights and freedoms, and is therefore the legal basis for this processing. (Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). You can object to such processing on the basis of a legitimate interest at any time by clicking on the opt-out links of the respective services below.

What data is collected?

Information about your activities on the websites marketed by Media Impact is collected (e.g. browsing behaviour, subpages of the web offer visited, ad banners clicked, etc.). All usage data is stored using a pseudonym, meaning that personal identification is not possible. This data may be used in connection with anonymous data from online questionnaires. The IP address of your computer, which is transmitted for technical reasons, is made completely anonymous by an independent third party and is not used to serve targeted ads.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is stored on your computer to record your usage behaviour. Cookies are small files that your browser stores on your device in a designated directory. It can be used, for example, to determine whether a website has already been visited from your web browser. Should you agree to it, login data for an online service can also be stored in cookies so that you do not have to enter it every time you visit the website. Many cookies have a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier for the cookie. It consists of a string of characters through which the specific web browser where the cookie was stored can be assigned to websites and servers. This allows the visited websites and servers to distinguish a browser from other web browsers that have different cookies. A specific web browser can be identified by the unique cookie ID.
Ads are mostly provided by third parties. These may use, to the extent permitted by your device settings, information about pages visited by your web browser in order to serve ads for products and services that may be of interest to you. Specific contact data such as your name, address, e-mail address or telephone number will not be transmitted under any circumstances.

Cookies cannot identify you as a person. In any case, the use of cookies is justified on the basis of our legitimate interest in a needs-based design and for the purpose of statistical evaluation (Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

You can stop us from installing cookies at any time by changing the appropriate settings in the web browser used and thus permanently opting out from the installation of cookies. Furthermore, cookies that have already been installed can be deleted at any time through a web browser or with other software programs. If you deactivate the installation of cookies in the web browser used, not all functions of our website may be fully usable.

When using apps, a technology similar in function to cookies is used instead.
We may use a promotional identifier provided by your operating system manufacturer for such purposes: ‘Identifier for Advertisting’ (IDFA) for iOS devices or ‘Google Advertising ID’ for Android devices. The advertising ID is not linked to the app, but associated with your device as a whole. With the help of this advertising identifier, Media Impact can serve advertising content according to your use of the apps (so-called ‘behavioural advertising’). The aim is to show users more interesting and relevant ads than would be possible without analysing the corresponding usage data.
If you do not want your device’s advertising identifier to be used for behavioural advertising, you can change the settings on your device accordingly:

  • If you are using an Apple device: Open the settings and select ‘Privacy’. You can now enable the ‘No Ad Tracking’ function under ‘Advertising’.
  • If you are using a device running the Android operating system: Open the ‘Google Settings’ app and select ‘Ads’. You can then turn on the ‘Opt-out of interest-based ads’ option.
